چکیده
Integration of flue gas desulfurized gypsum (FGD-gypsum) with cover crops is expected to improve soil quality (SQ). Our objectives were evaluate the impact FGD-gypsum and rye on SQ contribution core indicators account for variability in a rainfed corn-soybean system. A completely randomized design (CRD) two rates (control vs. 1,120 kg/ha) x rye) was conducted. Results showed that both crop variably affected properties; however, their more pronounced when integrated. Soil bio-efficiency increased via large microbial biomass (SMB) pool higher enzyme activities decrease (38%) catabolism (qCO2). chemical balancing 15% by active carbon (AC), 26% nitrogen (AN), 50% particulate organic (POC), 58% (PON) 53% phosphorus (POP) contents. Improved physical stability aggregate (>250 µm) contributed POC, PON, POP enrichment within aggregates. The bio-efficiency, balancing, as impacted consequently improved SQ. Principal components analysis (PCA) identified eight calculate minimum dataset index (SQIMDS), which explained 86% generalized SQI (SQIgen). lack non-significant difference between SQIg SQIMDS suggesting can be consistently used quantify, compare, predict greater use will important proactive recycling industrial by-products growing crops.

Cover crop root contributions to soil carbon in a no-till corn bioenergy cropping system
Crop residues are potential biofuel feedstocks, but residue removal may reduce soil carbon (C). The inclusion of a cover crop in a corn bioenergy system could provide additional biomass, mitigating the negative effects of residue removal by adding to stable soil C pools. In a no-till continuous corn bioenergy system in the northern US Corn Belt, we used CO2 pulse labeling to trace plant C from ...

متن کاملLong-term trends in nitrous oxide emissions, soil nitrogen, and crop yields of till and no-till cropping systems.
No-till cropping can increase soil C stocks and aggregation but patterns of long-term changes in N2O emissions, soil N availability, and crop yields still need to be resolved. We measured soil C accumulation, aggregation, soil water, N2O emissions, soil inorganic N, and crop yields in till and no-till corn-soybean-wheat rotations between 1989 and 2002 in southwestern Michigan and investigated w...
متن کاملChemical attributes of soil under no-till farming affected by crop systems and fertilization sources
Crop systems and fertilization sources can affect the chemical properties of the soil and, consequently, its fertility. With the aim of evaluating the effect of such management practices, soil samples collected at 0.0-0.10; 0.10-0.20; and 0.20-0.40 m in depth were collected and analyzed in the second year of an experiment installed in 2006 in a Rhodic Hapludox under no-till farming, located in ...
